Robots delivering food to help contactless deliveries
Delivering essential items has become a main priority for several countries and to lower the risk of contact from other humans, Starship Technologies has introduced robots that are capable of delivering food to customers.
The company has started its operations to test this delivery system in Tempe, Arizona. This will serve an optimistic solution where human contact is minimised to avoid the risk of getting infected by the novel Coronavirus.
According to the company, the demand for roots to perform various tasks has rapidly increased since the pandemic. The current set of robots is capable of handling up to 20 pounds of weight and work autonomously once the location is set.
Currently the deliveries are accepted on the Starships delivery app and through a selection of restaurants, a customer can place and order for various essential goods.
The robot is tracked via GPS and the use can monitor the position of the robot. Once there, the robot alerts the user via the app and the customer can pick up their orders accordingly.
