Mumbai-based Colston Julian has a diverse profile, from being a Calvin & Hobbes fan to scuba diver to adventure sport enthusiast, however, he is popularly known for his fashion photography. The photographer who is rooted to Indian philosophy had skillfully captured the essence of Ganesh Chaturthi in 2010, breaking away from the rigidity of studio photography of a fashion feature. He was quoted as saying that the visuals one creates and gets on the streets amidst the cultural and social environment of a buzzing city is something you can never find in the confinement of a studio. And taking this street shooting culture across the world, he’s worked in New York, Milan, Tokyo and Paris.

The 28-year-old Indian professional photographer aims to document rarely seen communities, explore their practices and project through his pictures how people around the world live. Besides exceling in capturing the root hoods of Indian culture, his portfolio includes pictures of the tribes of Omo Valley in Ethiopia, Huaorani people of the Amazon Rainforest, and also the Headhunters, Aghoris (a sect of followers of Lord Shiva, as called in India) besides eunuchs and shepherds of India.
