Now, Fashion With Extra Cheese!
Pizza-seller Pizza Hut has launched a pizza-themed clothing line and a range of pizza-themed lifestyle items in a move that will surely delight pizza-enthusiasts everywhere. The restaurant chain has called its range of products “Hut Swag”.
The ‘fan’-tastic line of apparel and accessories, which includes hats, shirts, socks, scarves, tanks, tees, sunglasses, snap backs and even bed linens and skateboards. So you can now wear your “artery-clogged”, pizza-loving heart on your sleeve!
The company is definitely on board for a good cause though.
According to the Hut Swag site, “All funds raised in the US will be donated to WFP,” a charity that aims to end hunger by providing meals to those in need. WFP, which stands World Food Programme, can provide a meal to four children for approximately one dollar a day through its global school meals programme. Pizza Hut donates 100 per cent of all net profits from the sale of Pizza Hut merchandise to WFP USA.
Pizza Hut may be a little late in introducing the fast food theme into the clothing game, since McDonald made news in the fashion world back in March, when they opened the Big Mac Shop that sells a variety of items covered in a repetitive print of their most famous sandwich.
But what really got the attention of many clothing fans, blogs, and publications was that the apparel looked no worse than much of the high-end street wear for which people spend hundreds of dollars. The Big Mac raincoat, board shorts, and thermals could have been designed by a burger-loving fashion icon, and people would likely appreciate them almost anywhere if worn appropriately.
Taco Bell has been selling stuff through the Live Mas Store for years. But that’s because the chain is a consistent trendsetter in fast food branding than anything else. Aside from T-shirts and hoodies, professing love for the Bell, you can get everything from phone cases and ear bud holders to rings and sunglasses.
Of course, all of these fast food clothing options beg the question, ‘What’s worth wearing? How many of us would want to tell the world about being a junkie lover? Are we ready to be judged? Or does it hardly matter when the tee is really cool?’
There are several brands doing quite well in this segment. However, it remains to be seen how this well swag catches on.
At least with the “good-deed” feather on its cap, one could surely give Pizza Hut a thumbs-up!
