Runway Report: Sanchita Spring Summer 2017 at AIFW SS’17
There has always been much hype surrounding Sanchita’s shows and this season was no different.
The designer presented a series of separates executed in a myriad of fabrics as varied as washi organic fabric, brocade, satin georgette, silk cotton and cotton chanderi.
This unconventional, monochromatic mix of fabric texture and weight felt like a fresh change and had all the rows paying attention right from the start.
The collection was filled with sporty dresses, elongated rapper T-shirts, pyjama sets and loose shorts that spelled immaculate tailoring and fit that the designer is known for.
The collection is inspired by a surrealistic tropical garden in full bloom that came alive through micro and macro prints of small insects and large orchid block repeats.
The garments were embellished with pearls, Swarovski stones, lovebird beads, patchwork and thread work embroidery —all created using traditional hand techniques— having a sporty-chic and laid back advantage.
