Lagerfeld expresses his displeasure over Brexit Movement!
Karl Lagerfeld blamed ‘people from the countryside’ for Bretix after it was revealed that 52% of Britain had voted to leave the EU. The fashion icon has finally expressed his feeling publicly, joining over 90% British designers who have voted in favour of Remain. The British Fashion Council (BFC) had stated last Thursday that 92% of UK designers would be voting for Remain in the poll.
During London Collections Men that took place from June 10 to 13, designers like Christopher Raeburn, Patrick Grant of E. Tautz and Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery of fashion brand Sibling gave clear indication of staying in favour of EU. With the declaration of the results the BFC poll revealed that only 4.6% of the UK designers voted to leave EU.
Speaking at the Dior Homme SS17 men’s show in Paris, Lagerfeld said, “Look who voted, it was the people from deep in the countryside, the big cities didn’t want it at all.” Adding, “I don’t think it will work out, they may have another vote.”
Lagerfeld isn’t the only one in the fashion industry to speak against Bretix; stylist Katie Grand recently wrote, ‘I’ve never been so unproud to be British’ and Vivienne Westwood wore a T-shirt with a quote saying-Register to vote by June 7, don’t let an older generation decide your future.
