Alexander McQueen Names A New CEO!
British luxury fashion house, Alexander McQueen has got its new Chief Executive in the form of Emmanuel Gintzburger who will be replacing Jonathan Akeroyd.
The announcement was made by Kering, the French luxury goods company that owns Alexander McQueen. Gintzburger is expected to join the luxury label on May 9, 2016 and will be reporting to Kering’s Chief Executive Officer of Luxury – Couture & Leather Goods Emerging Brands, Grita Loebsack.
Previously the Worldwide Retail and Wholesale Director of Yves Saint Laurent, Gintzburger has strong expertise in retail & marketing, which will in turn help in his new mission to accelerate Alexander McQueen’s growth globally. Gintzburger started his career in 1997 at Danone, after which he moved on to Louis Vuitton Pacific where he initially joined as a Marketing Analyst only later to be appointed as the Retail Marketing Manager. Apart from this, he has also served at Sephora in 2002 as Regional Retail Director and Marketing Director, and Jeanne Lanvin in 2007 as International Retail Director.
McQueen’s outgoing CEO Jonathan Akeroyd, who is resigning from his post to pursue other interests, has served the label for almost 12 years. The company in a statement expressed its gratitude towards Akeroyd for his immense contribution during all these years. “In close collaboration with the creative and leadership team, he successfully oversaw the growth and the international expansion of the brand, making it one of the most recognized British luxury fashion brands in the world,” the statement read. He also worked closely with the brand’s designer Sarah Burton after the untimely demise of the label’s founder Alexander McQueen.
The label recently made headlines when a wedding designer Christine Kendall sued it of copying her sketches while designing the mesmeric royal wedding gown for the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Alexander McQueen however denied all the allegations by calling them absolutely rubbish.
