Criticising the magazine for the extreme photoshop of her image, Dunham addressed the magazine by saying, “If you’re into what I do, why not be honest with your readers?”
Dubbing the airbrushing of the image as a ‘mad photoshop’, Lena Dunham has appealed for it to be honest with its readers. The magazine’s latest issue, a monthly supplement to Spain’s highest-circulation newspaper El País, has an image of Dunham styled in a way that seems to pay homage to the British model Twiggy. The picture was shot by Ruven Afanador, a Colombia-born photographer and first carried in Entertainment Weekly in the year 2012. Dunham, who has about 2.4m followers on Instagram, wrote in her post that the image had been airbrushed and did not reflect her real image, and within an hour of her posting, she received more than 19,200 likes.

Dunham has also shared a selfie, wearing a shearling jacket, round glasses with a wood-grain frame and a baseball cap that had ‘Make Brooklyn Great Again’ written on it. The picture was captioned: ‘As I grow older, I become more comfortable with who I am’.
The fifth season of the HBO series is currently on air. Popular as a writer, creator and the star of the HBO series Girls that has been running since 2012, Dunham has received numerous Emmy award nominations and two Golden Globe awards.
