Dolce & Gabbana-styled refrigerators!
The luxury fashion designers Dolce & Gabbaana’s hand-painted collection of limited edition, lust-worthy refrigerators are the latest hot news with a fuse.
Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stephano Gabbana are masters at creating covetable everyday objects. For this, they collaborated with Italian appliance brand Smeg, to create 100 limited-edition fridges. They then roped in the talents of Sicilian artists, including Salvatore Sapienza and mother/daughter team Adriana Zambonelli to give each fridge a unique, quirky Italian touch.
The refrigerators, styled and painted with provincial symbols and medieval scenes, took them 240 hours of workmanship to create each piece designed under the personal directions from the designers.
According to a GQ report, Dolce & Gabbana said, “The collaboration between the premium appliance manufacturer and world-famous fashion house has materialised through a united passion for ‘Made in Italy’ excellence, a deep respect for family tradition and the importance of maintaining local roots.”
These fridges, which are not highly expensive, will only cost about $34,000- $42,000 and they are incredible. Playing true to the Dolce & Gabbana fashion aesthetics, with floral motifs, lemons, patterns, the trinacria flag, cart wheels, and medieval knights locked in battle scenes, these painted fridges take cue from the Medieval period.

The fridges are indeed up for sale. They will be put on display at Salone Internazionale Del Mobile, the world furniture exhibition in Milan, from April 12 to 17. After the Salone Internzaionale, the refrigerators will be available for purchase on the Dolce & Gabbana e-commerce or by contacting Smeg directly.
