Google doodle pays tribute to women with ‘One day I will…’ video
Google is celebrating International Women’s Day with a doodle that leads to a video that showcases women of every age from all over the world.
The homepage shows the Google logo surrounded by doodle of women, where the second ‘O’ been changed to a PLAY button, which when clicked, starts playing the video. Right from toddlers to young and the elderly, the video shows women of all ages from all over the world — San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Lagos, Moscow, Cairo, Berlin, London, Paris, Jakarta, Bangkok, New Delhi and Tokyo, completing the sentence ‘One day I will…’ with their own wishes.
Google’s Doodle page says, ‘So, we gathered our cameras and pencils and visited 13 countries where we spoke to 337 women and girls and asked them to complete the sentence, “One day I will….”
The unique video shows women talking about their aspirations in local languages right from something as small as swimming with pigs to the big causes like speaking for those who can’t speak and providing education for women. The video also features Malala Yousafzai and Jane Goodall.
In most filming locations, Google says that it has worked with a female-only crew to help create a celebratory and encouraging environment. The video has been created by Lydia Nichols, Helene Leroux & Liat Ben-Rafael and the music has been given by Merrill Garbus.
“Over the years, Doodles have commemorated the achievements of women in science, civil rights, journalism, sports, arts, technology and beyond. It’s always an honour to pay tribute to women who have changed the course of history, sometimes in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles,” Google wrote further on its page.
